I have finally given in to peer pressure and decided to put myself through the pain and agony of running (I hate to run) for a great cause. Please support us all by giving money to the burn unit which changed our lives. Also, please pray that I am able to make it across the finish line!!

Jess, Mary & Megan Horsfall....We are Cooper's neighbors and good friends of Amber and Tim. We are so excited to be able to take part in such a great cause. Even my daughter Megan is going to participate....Maybe some of our other neighbors will also be interested in participating with us?

Yesterday was a milestone for me. Ran 13 miles. Who says Hungry Howies pizza isn't good carb loading, Shannon! It wasn't the prettiest 13 miles but I'll take it. After 3 hours of ice and a leg rub down by my personal trainer I was able to walk. Get this, even went to spinning class this morning and survived. Did you notice the donation total? How about that. Thanks to everyone along the right hand side of the blog for making a donation. You guys ROCK!!!!!!!!!

Week 7 - September 30th to October 6th
Monday - Vacation
Tuesday - Airport
Wednesday - 8 miles
Thursday - 3 miles
Saturday/Sunday - 10 miles

As many of you know we went on vacation last week and the first part of this week. I guess you could say training went on vacation too. I did walk and stand and walk and stand a lot. If that some how counts I'll take it. Did I mention I ate. Man did I eat. I also gained 5 pounds.

So, I've got 2 and half weeks to get into half marathon shape. I think I could run it right now but more than anything I need to work on endurance and eating right. The next couple weeks will consist of medium range runs and a good diet. You may have noticed our donation goal has been reached. It's a bit complicated and I'm not sure how it all works but we have a group of people who have challenged their neighbors and friends to match their donation. With all that being said we have surpassed the $2000 goal and have raised it to $2500. Also, The Running Company has been generous enough to allow us some counter space in their Fishers store to advertise and pass out our business cards with the blog website. So if you're in need of running shoes and apparrel go to The Running Company. We will put their website on here too.

Week 6 - September 23rd to September 29th

Thursday - 5 miles

Sun - 6-8 miles

Last week was horrible for training. My knees are killing me so I broke down today to buy some running shoes. Not sure why I wait so long. Leaving for vacation on Wed and will be returning Wed (10-3). Not sure if the training will improve from last week but I will be doing some walking. Funny thing happened to me Sunday on my 8 mile run. As I was making the last turn for home and begining mile #5 a guy running with one of those "jogger stroller" things turned and was heading in the same direction as me. I didn't really think too much about it. The sun was directly behind me so you know how your shadow is now 10' long. Well with about 3/4 of a mile to go I see his shadow starting to come up from behind. I thought to myself, "Self, now your not going to get passed by a guy pushing one of those stroller things are you?" I decided to turn it up a notch and then I lost sight of his shadow. Thinking I was in the clear. All of a sudden here he comes again trying to pass me. Once again I turned it up a notch and the shadow disappears. Keep in mind, for me to turn it up a notch means I go from 9:30 minute/mile pace to 9:15 minute/mile pace which isn't much but it made my heart rate sky rocket. I eventually made it back home without being passed by a guy pushing a stroller. I had planned to run 8 miles but due to "Turning it up a notch" I was done after 5. Thought you might enjoy a snap shot of my life and how this brain works. I promise once I get back from vacation the training video will be released. My IT Dept. has been vacationing in Florida this past weekend and will be on vacation with me this week too. Man she is lucky.

Week 5 - September 16th to September 22nd
Monday - Spin Class
Tuesday - 2 miles
Wednesday - 5 miles
Thursday - Spin Class
Friday - 5 miles
Sat/Sun - Rest

Week 4 was a good week. Ran 8 miles yesterday to make up for some lost miles from the past two weeks. Training video is on the way!

Week 4 - September 9th to September 15th
Sunday - 4 miles
Monday - Spinning Class
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - 5 miles
Thursday - Spinning Class
Friday - Spinning Class
Saturday - 6 miles

Well, week three wasn't the best of training for me. I didn't hit my mileage goal but the real good news for the week is that we have over $1200 in donations. Also, we have tee shirts that have the website and little Coop's picture on it. Hopefully with the tee shirts we can do some PR work during training runs. A request for a training video of yours truly in action will be coming soon. At this point, I'll do anything for the money. So Scubelek get your wallet out!!!

Monday - Golf with Jeremy - I broke a sweat walking to and from the cart!
Tuesday - 3 miles
Wednesday - 4 miles
Thursday - 5:30 a.m. Spinning Class
Friday - 5:30 a.m. Spinning Class
Saturday - 10 miles

Recap Week 2 - WOW what a great week. We got a lot of responses to the blog and a lot of generous people have made donations. Within the first day the blog made it all the way across the pond to England. That just blows my mind. Thanks to everyone who has made a donation. As you can see our goal of $2,000 will soon be made. I guess I need to set another goal once we get there.

I made my mileage goal for the week and burned 4,348 calories. The 10 miles on Saturday was a bit of a struggle but wasn't too bad. An hour of ice that afternoon and I was ready to go. I've got another 10 miles this coming weekend so I'll take it easy Tuesday and Wednesday and hit it hard this weekend.

Week 2 - Aug 26th to September 1st

Monday - 5:30 a.m. Spinning Class
Tuesday - 5 mile run
Wednesday - 3 mile run
Thursday - 5:30 a.m. Spinning Class
Friday - 5:30 a.m. Spinning Class
Sat/Sun - 10 mile run (Hopefully) and day of rest

Week 1 training was ok. Ran a total of 7 miles and biked two days. Went to the race in Bristol so I ran 4 miles at the place we stayed at. There are a couple hills in that part of the country so 4 miles was about all I could do. I plan on hitting my mileage goal this week. My knees and legs are feeling good and my cardo is improving.
